you are correct and one of the 20 or so people to correct me haha

    - - - Updated - - -

last 5 days car has been running great.

also i have been running it on on the Micro2, instead of the MS1 and 6010 box.

oil is good, not using any, still clean, last 3 days the car has seen boost over 15psi daily, today i hit it with 21lbs and i also unhooked the methanol.

just to see how the IAT vs timing retard table works and it works great.
another feature built in that will pull timing based on inlet temps, IE if your inlet temps go over 160 it pulls 2 deg.

so i set that up today and saw 250F inlet temps in 3rd gear pulls LOL

anyway hooked my methanol back up and ill have it back out again tomorrow killing the tires.
going to get it on the dyno no later than friday and see what kinda power it makes, low 700s will be awesome, if i can push to 800whp that would be fucking retarded.

oh and the micro2 testing is going so well i removed the MS1 and 6010 from the car, i had previously had them both installed so i could switch back and forth

What did the new internals come out of? I really want a GenIV 4.8L since it doesn't have VVT or AFM, and I like the 4.8L specs. Swap on some 317s for whatever the hell compression it ends up being and hit it with 20psi. It would be bound to make power.

I have a 2005 4.8 does that mean it would accept the ZR1 cam without changing the cover and all? Should be the ls2 "style" with beefier rods and all correct?

the transition years were 04-06 so if its those middle years it could be combinations or complete

yeah so long as its not the VVT cover, the VVT cover is bigger and fits that variable gear that is larger.
but yes a 08 would surely have the better rods and pistons.

i made about 40rwhp more on 20psi with the flat tops, and then i turned it up and broke a piston i believe.

    gunna tear it down tomorrow

Wow, that didn't last very long. We're you on pump or e85 or a mix.

Sound like youve proved the use of an intercooler + Meth. Meth only seems to have pushed it over the hill on allowable temperature which I wouldnt have guessed on E-85..

Keep up the good work Denmah! Things like this help all of the rest of us out here in cyber world keep from hitting the same road blocks over & over.

It's been a day now, so I figure you have the engine pulled, diagnosed, documented, and put back together with who knows what parts you had lying around. We are all anxious to see the carnage!

awesome to see some of the limits of the stock oem parts- but at what point is your time worth more than messing with the stock stuff rather then getting a good set of pistons and rods or putting that forged 6.0 together - your ambition is incredible though lol

i havent pulled it yet, still in running condition, waiting to get some pistons from a friend, ill replace them when i get them, rather than have it apart for days.

then ill see what happened too, if there are no marks on the pistons im really going to be scratching my head. must be hitting a limit.

at that point i am going to try an intake next i think.

see if a fast 102 is worth the money eh?

if i am making 550-600 and i bolt that on and we see the results, should be a great test, if not fast intakes sell used close to the new price.

What makes you think you hurt it? Smoke, power loss, internals sticking through side of block?

I'd try a custom cam before trying the FAST. It would be cheaper and it would also be cool to see how the LS9 cam compares to an actual "turbo" cam.

Or even swap on a LS6 or LS2 intake...

    Hi Matt
Which controller did you have on it when it hurt its self ? Just wondering if you had the Micro on it and if so did it do something weird ?

ok, so i took it right to the dyno friday, black friday, and hit it with 20lbs and she made 40rwhp extra, 640rwhp...

so i proceeded to top out the boost controller again around 26psi and it came up, and stumbled and laid over. i let out and knew i broke a piston or two again.

    rods are strait.
3 and 7 are broken the others are fine. used headgasket is fine also. pistons dont even have any marks in them showing detonation or anything.

excess smoke, blowing oil out of every corner of the motor in boost, and it smells blown up.

i have a big cam i can throw in this motor for fun, 225/230. 618 lift, 115 lsa

the microsquirt was operating under the same settings as the ms1 when i blew it, so i would say its working perfectly, since it broke again at the same power level lol

I gotta say, thanks. This is like R+D I dont have to pay for. It's better than reading any off the shelf car mag any day of the week. Plus when I buy those I got it read cover to cover in a couple days and I'm SOL for the next month. With you I get daily updates on what kind of power we can expect with what the General pushed out the door.

Odd you keep breaking the lower land like that. The rods are good though? So maybe the limit hasn't been reached there. I would say if another set of stock replacements die the same way, you have found the upper limit. Not really worth building what would be your fourth attempt by my count at the same power level. I know you have a good set of rods and pistons, it may be time to use them. As for the FAST intake. Hell yeah. Those big ass ant eater ones from Holley and Eddy look like they make power upstairs too. And cheaper too.

    Anyhow, keep on keepin on.

I know you will disagree but I still believe this is detonation. Can you post a screen shot of your timing table?

    Thanks,

i am inclined to believe you haha...
sure i can post it up later tonight when i get home.

should i just yank 2deg out of the whole table in boost and see how long it lasts?

    seems like <20psi is fine
