Finally getting back to my 80 Notchback project. The last combination was a stock long block 5.0 that ran 10.95@128 and made 535rwhp and 640rwtq.

The new setup will be a stock 94 flat tappet 351 with a single 72mm turbo. Below are photos of the old 5.0 setup and progress photos on the new 351.

Looks good Tony :2thumbs:. Pulled the 302 out of my car last week and put my ddmi kit on ebay. Doing a 351 with a pair of to4b v trims. Also bought a megasquirt for it. Would love to come check out the project some time when I am up that way. Wish I had your fab skills. Just when I think I'm doing alright, I see some of your stuff, very nice. Holler back at me when you get a chance.

Thanks...looking to go low 10's high 9's on the stock short block. The last E7 headed 5 liter combo trapped at 128mph with 18 psi. And should have trapped over 130 after it dynoed at 535 wheel. I would like to see 135 or 140 mph out of this setup but I may run out of turbo.

    Thanks Chris,

Glad to hear you are going with a 351. Sounds like you need to start a new build thread! How often do you get up to Sioux Falls? I work on the car at my parents place which is about 12 miles south of Sioux Falls...in Worthing. Im usually there working on stuff a few nights a week and on the weekends.

    Regards,
    Tony

Fabbed up some intercooler brackets and welded them to the IC. There will be tabs on the bottom of the core that bolt to the core support. Next up is the charge piping.

How is this project coming along? Haven't had much time to work on mine yet. Got some stubbed flanges and a pile of mandrel bends not too long ago, guess I better get after it lol.

I haven't worked on it much lately. I've been busy with work and I'm freshening a C4 trans for the Fairmont. Once that is back together I will be back on it! I definitely need to have it running by March or April. I don't want to miss out on any racing this year.

You have a pictures of the new setup your working on?

Tony - Great work! What are you using to dress the ends of those tubes up before welding?

...and how on earth are the tubes not all beat up from use?

Thank you! I'm using a round ended carbide burr on an electric die grinder. Its the quickest way I've found to get the job done.

The tubing on the 351 hotside is all new stuff...the pictures probably make it look nicer than it really is!

    Best regards,

Using the burr to dress up the outside of the tube? It's so uniform, it looks like you masked it off!

Yes sir! I clean the inside as well...the stuff still welds poorly though IMO.

hmm.. never thought of doing it like that. I'll have to give it a shot. That coating is hell on welds, if it's not down to bare metal that crap floats up to the top every time, makes a perfect weld look like a newb did it.
